JSPCA PRESS RELEASE

November 2005

THE CHANNEL 103 GREAT DOG WALK

The Channel 103 Great Dog Walk, held on Sunday 13th November 2005, was a huge success.  It was a glorious sunny winter's day which enticed many dog owners and walkers alike to come and show their support for the JSPCA Animals' Shelter.   Many thanks to Channel 103 for organising the event and hence helping the JSPCA Animals' Shelter to raise much needed funds.

Channel 103 hosted the dog walk, which, although it officially began at 11am on Sunday, saw many walkers and dog owners (naturally accompanied with their dogs) arriving at 10.30am at the first lay-by at West Park in ready anticipation of the fun event.  Hundreds of owners and their faithful companions arrived for the walk along the beach to Bel Royal and back and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day.  The JSPCA Animals' Shelter dogs looking for new homes, all of which wore blue bandanas, also received a warm reception and had a wonderful time walking along the beach, along with the other dogs and their owners.

Many kind and generous donations were received from the walkers and over £1500 was raised.  This show of support was over-whelming and will ultimately help the JSPCA Animals' Shelter to continue its work caring for the injured, stray and unwanted animals on the Island.

Thank you to Channel 103, the JSPCA staff and all of the walkers and their dogs who attended and for their generosity  - your support is much appreciated, for which the JSPCA Animals' Shelter is very grateful.
