JSPCA PRESS RELEASE

January 2006

THE JSPCA ANIMALS' SHELTER 24 HOUR AMBULANCE IS ON THE ROAD AGAIN

The JSPCA Animals’ Shelter is very pleased to be able to tell the public that the 24 hour  emergency ambulance service will again be fully operational  from Monday 16 January 2006, almost exactly one year after it was suspended due to the loss of the stray dog contract and concern for the financial future of the Society. This is only possible because of the fantastic support the Animals’ Shelter has received from the public.

In compliance with the “Dogs (Jersey)  Law 1961” the Connetables continue to have responsibility for collecting and holding stray dogs until they can be reunited with their owner. The Connetables currently employ private contractors to carry out this service. The existing arrangements for stray dogs still apply and anyone finding or losing a dog needs to contact their duty Centenier.

The service operated by the Animals’ Shelter will be able to assist in emergencies concerning other domestic animals and wildlife.

The out of hours emergency telephone number is 07797 720331

Please contact Pru Bannier for more details on 724331
