January 2006

NEW JSPCA ANIMALS' SHELTER PRESIDENT APPOINTED

The JSPCA Animals’ Shelter Committee are delighted that Past President Nick Blampied has agreed to fill the office of President of the JSPCA vacated by J. Morley-Kirk until the next AGM.  Mr Blampied has a long association with the Animals’ Shelter and served as President for 10 years . He is well respected both within the membership of the Society and throughout the Island. He is currently President of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes for the UK. The ADCH has over 50 members throughout the UK and Ireland including Battersea Dog’s Home, The Cats Protection League, The Blue Cross to name but a few .

His professional expertise and long standing involvement in the running of the Animals’ Shelter will be invaluable in helping the Committee to work with Roger Bignell in implementing his recent recommendations. The Committee considers this to be of the highest priority and have already implemented several of the recommendations and are finalising the job description for the additional managerial post.

We continue to receive the most fantastic support from Islanders, in words, deeds and donations – the latter enabling us to reinstate the 24 hour Ambulance Service. With this endorsement and Nick Blampied’s leadership we have can move forward with our work, caring for animals in Jersey.

Mr Blampied will be available at the Animals’ Shelter at 8.30am on Monday 30 January to discuss this and Roger  Bignell’s  report.
