STRANDED DOLPHIN FOUND IN ST OUEN'S BAY
During the morning of Friday 7th December 2007, a Common Dolphin was spotted by a dog walker stranded on the beach in St Ouen's Bay. The walker immediately contacted the JSPCA Animals' Shelter and then the JMMR group (Jersey Marine Mammal Rescue) were advised of the animal's plight. Donna de Gruchy (JMMR member and British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Marine Mammal Medic) was notified and several members of the Jersey Fire and Sea Rescue team attended the poor animal who had suffered extensive jaw damage as well as superficial cuts and bruising. Unfortunately, the jaw damage was so severe and the animal had suffered tremendously in the stormy seas that it died.
