GUINEA PIGS DUMPED IN A FIELD
Six
guinea pigs have been found dumped in a field in the Parish of St Martin.
Luckily, a member of the public found the little animals wandering
aimlessly and brought them to the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter to be looked
after.
This act was totally irresponsible and left the animals vulnerable to predation from other creatures such as cats and birds of prey; the guinea pigs would have been very unlikely to survive for any length of time alone in the wild environment, especially now that the weather is becoming autumnal.
Anyone who can no
longer care for their pets, due to whatever circumstances, always has the
option of bringing them to the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter where the animals
can be re-homed; there is no need to abandon pet animals to their own fate
in the wild, where they will probably not survive.
The guinea pigs are currently being nursed to good health by the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter Clinic staff and will then be looking for new loving homes.
