JSPCA PRESS RELEASE

September 2003

NEW JSPCA AFFILIATE MEMBERS

The JSPCA Animals’ Shelter is pleased to announce that the “Greyhound Rescue – Retired Greyhound Trust, Jersey Group” have become new members of the JSPCA Affiliation Scheme.

Gail and Malcolm Hickmott run Greyhound Rescue and the role of the charity is to find homes, as domestic pets, for ex-racing greyhounds.  The organisation works extremely hard to encourage owners to take responsibility for their dogs seriously and would like to see more of the public considering taking on retired racing greyhounds as pets, if they are looking to give a dog a home.

The JSPCA Affiliation Scheme was developed and introduced in 2001, whereby local charities and organisations “join forces” and work together with the JSPCA to ensure that scarce resources are best utilised.  The aim of this Scheme is to present a united front against animal cruelty and promote all aspects of animal welfare.
