ASYLUM GRANTED FOR FOREIGN VISITOR

A holiday-maker had a surprise whilst unwrapping a souvenir from her trip to Zambia when a small Tree Frog leapt out from inside the gift.  The Zambian Tree Frog is now resident at the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter where members of staff from Jersey Zoo have identified it.  After contacting the States Veterinary Surgeon for advice on the matter, a suitable home with an experienced amphibian owner will be found for the frog.

• The Zambian Tree frog belongs to the Family Hylidae.  They can eat crickets for food and, of course, like to climb tree branches.
